Greening process of the front section of Paul Bruchési elementary school (Montréal, Québec)

This project is an initiative of the volunteer parents comity with the support from the school management. The main goals are both to value the visual aspect of the school entrance and also bring more greenery to the sections of land along Saint Joseph Boulevard and the cross streets of Chambord and De Lanaudière streets.

Illustrations of the areas : Surface of around 160 m2.

After a soil decompaction process on 5cm deep, the seeding operation took place on May 6th, 2023, with the participation of several children from the school.

In some areas, some plants already growing have been preserved, such as white clover, verge d'or, Burdock, camomille matricaire, pissenlit, stellaire intermédiaire, pachysandre japonais.

The selection of seeds is a mix of flowers and grasses (composed of annuals for flowering this year and perennials).

Renature Gazon sauvage (pepiniererustique.ca)

Voici un mélange à gazon inspiré de la nature. Composé de graminées alpines, de différentes espèces de fétuques, de fleurs sauvages et de trèfle blanc. Le feuillage atteint une hauteur de 30 cm et les fleurs peuvent pousser jusqu'à 60 cm. Donne un meilleur résultat s'il n'est pas tondu, mais peut tout de même être coupé périodiquement, idéalement entre les différentes périodes de floraison. On doit cependant le faucher une fois chaque automne pour éviter la repousse d'arbres. S'implante facilement sur un sol de qualité moyenne avec une mince couche de terre végétale. Supporte bien les conditions sèches et tolère les endroits mi-ombragés. Contient 75% d'espèces indigènes (les autres sont des plantes naturalisées).

The next steps are as follow v:

- Provide sufficient watering for an effective germination.

- Add a net to refrain birds from pecking all the seeds.

- Install a mini fence to limit the trampling of some plots along Saint Joseph Boulevard.
